What is a speech pathologist?
An expert who evaluates and diagnoses speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. During a session they can evaluate a client’s social skills, literacy and feeding & swallowing.
When should a speech therapist get involved?
When a child:
- presents with speech sound errors affecting their intelligibility
- has difficulty following directions
- has a limited vocabulary
- has difficulty spelling and/ or reading
- has difficulty forming and maintaining friendships/ relationships
